Set in 1919, the episode follows Thomas Shelby ( Cillian Murphy ), the ambitious leader of the Peaky Blinders gang.

: We meet the core Shelby family, including the matriarch Aunt Polly (Helen McCrory), who managed the business while the men were at war, and Tommy’s volatile older brother Arthur (Paul Anderson).

: The theft catches the attention of Winston Churchill, who dispatches the ruthless Chief Inspector Chester Campbell (Sam Neill) from Belfast to recover the arms and clean up Birmingham's corruption.

: The plot is set in motion when Tommy’s gang "accidentally" acquires a crate of high-powered government weaponry, including Lewis machine guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition, intended for export.

: A mysterious new barmaid, Grace Burgess ( Annabelle Wallis ), arrives at the gang's local pub, The Garrison. Unbeknownst to the Shelbys, she is an undercover operative working for Campbell.
