: Fukuzawa's client is found murdered. While the police have already captured a suspect—a young hitman named Sakunosuke Oda (Odasaku) —Ranpo arrives and immediately deduces that the president's secretary is the real killer.

: Fukuzawa notices Ranpo is confused and alienated because his extreme intelligence makes the world seem "too simple" to him while others appear "incompetent".
