Shrieker uses sound pulses to detonate "leeches" he has planted as bombs. Rukia assists Ichigo by pushing his soul out of his body using her Gokon Tekkō , allowing him to fight at full strength without the physical constraints of his human body.

Ichigo eventually manages to slash Shrieker. However, because Shrieker committed heinous murders as a human, he cannot be purified and sent to the Soul Society like normal Hollows. Key Thematic Elements
